Features

This product is installed at high points of pipelines, at locations prone to air pockets, and at pump discharge outlets. It removes trapped air to help maintain proper flow and system operation. If an air vent is not installed, pipeline air binding may occur, potentially reducing discharge capacity below design requirements. In the event of a power failure or pump stoppage, negative pressure may develop, which can cause pipeline vibration or damage. The air vent can quickly admit air to help alleviate such conditions.

When water begins to enter the pipeline, the valve seat lifts off the float ball to allow air to escape. Once the air is expelled, water enters and raises the float to close the seat, stopping the venting. During normal operation, small amounts of gas may accumulate inside the pipeline; when sufficient gas collects, the water level in the valve drops, the float descends, opening the seat to discharge gas. In cases of power or pump failure when the pipeline empties, negative pressure may occur. The float then drops, opening the seat to allow air intake, which helps safeguard the pipeline.
